🐢 VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:
Always wanted to Volunteer at a Wildlife Sanctuary but not sure where to go? Just across the border in Malaysia - is a small, humble Turtle Conservation Centre where you can get started. Spend a week Patroling the Beach for Nesting Turtles, Learn about Sea Turtle Conservation, and release any Baby Sea Turtles that may hatch.
BASIC HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION:
Please note that for this Volunteer experience we are required to stay in a Hostel style of accommodation at the Turtle Centre. This is so that if any Turtle activity occurs at night, as volunteers we will be able to quickly respond to it.

Day 1 (D) - Journey to Sea Turtle Centre 🇲🇾 Malaysia
🚐 By Private Van, Ferry & Jeep ⛴️
Arrive by Afternoon at 🐢 Sea Turtle Conservation Centre 🏖️
Day 2 (L/D) Volunteer Orientation, Introduction to the Centre
Learn about the different 🐢 Sea Turtle species, those present in the area & the threats that Sea Turtles face.
Learn how to identify Nesting Turtle Tracks on the beach. 👀 We'll be assigned Night Beach Patrol duties (with red light) to look for Nesting Mother Turtles. 🐢
Day 3 (L/D) Learn how to do a Nest Excavation
ie. After Nests have hatched or remain unhatched: check if there are any baby sea turtles left behind or to open up unhatched eggs to identify why, ie. if the eggs were not fertilised, bacterial or fungal infection, predated by crabs, etc.
Day 4 (L/D) 🏖️ Beach Clean Up
Patrol the beach & help to pick up litter from the beach. We found things like bottle caps and sooo many cigarette buds!
* Please be reminded that Sea Turtle nesting & hatching cannot be guaranteed. However, what we can assure you is that we only organise this trip during the ideal best month: ie. Jul/Aug - the peak season for Sea Turtles nesting & hatching.
* Subject to final change and adjustments.
Day 5 (L/D) ♻️ Recycling Afternoon
Make sure recyclables ie. drink cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles are properly sorted. Help to crush the plastic bottles, drink cans & remove plastic labels from glass bottles.
Day 6 (L/D) 🏞️ Waterfall Hike, Merchandise Making
Hike to the nearby waterfall and enjoy a refreshing swim. Help to make bracelets & necklaces to raise funds for the Turtle Centre.
Day 7 (B) Return Journey to Singapore 🇸🇬
⛴️ By Jeep, Ferry & Private Van 🚐
Arrive back in Singapore
Alternatively, drop off in JB, ie. KSL if you wish for massage, dinner, etc. but you will need to self return to SG after.
