🐢 VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:
Always wanted to Volunteer at a Wildlife Sanctuary but not sure where to go? Just in Malaysia - is a small, humble Turtle Conservation Centre where you can get involved! For a week help to Patrol the Beach for Nesting Turtles, Learn about Sea Turtle Conservation, and release any Baby Sea Turtles that may hatch during your stay.
BASIC HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION:
Please note that for this Volunteer experience we are required to stay in a Hostel style of accommodation at the Turtle Centre. This is so that if any Turtle activity occurs at night, as volunteers we will be able to quickly respond to it.

Day 1 - Journey to Sea Turtle Centre 🇲🇾 Malaysia
🚐 By Private Van, Ferry & Jeep ⛴️
Arrive by Afternoon at 🐢 Sea Turtle Conservation Centre 🏖️
4pm Volunteer Orientation, Introduction to the Centre
Learn about the different 🐢 Sea Turtle species, those present in the area, what the ✨ Conservation Centre does & the threats that Sea Turtles face.
Visit the Turtle Hatchery, where all the Nests found & Eggs are kept. Turtle Eggs take 45 - 70 days to incubate. If there are any Nests that recently hatched or are past their due date, we may:
ie. Learn how to do a Nest Excavation & open up the eggs to identify reasons for unhatched Nests, ie. if the eggs were not fertilised, bacterial or fungal infection, predated by crabs, etc.
Learn how to identify Nesting Turtle Tracks on the beach. 👀 We'll also be assigned Morning & Night Beach Patrol duties (with red light) to look for Nesting Mother Turtles. 🐢
Day 2 (B/L) 🏖️ Weekly Beach Clean Up
Every day we have some activities for half a day, morning or afternoon, so you will have some free time to relax as well.
Patrol the beach with fellow Volunteers and help to pick up and log litter from the beach. We found things like bottle caps, strings, and sooo many cigarette buds!
Day 3 (B/L) ♻️ Help to Process Recycling
Help to collect recyclables ie. drink cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles. Make sure they are properly sorted. Help to crush the drink cans, remove plastic labels from glass bottles.

Day 4 (B/L) Go Snorkeling in the Bay 🐠
If there are any Nests that recently hatched or are past their due date, we may also do Nest Excavations as and when needed.
Day 5 (B/L) ♻️ Help to make Keychains from Recycled Plastic
Help to make cute Turtle Keychains to raise funds for the Turtle Centre.
Day 6 - Off / Free Day
Day at Leisure, Go Snorkeling, Try an Experience Dive (additional cost), or Hike to the nearby Waterfall
Day 7 - Return Journey to Singapore 🇸🇬
⛴️ By Jeep, Ferry & Private Van 🚐
Arrive back in Singapore
Alternatively, drop off in JB, ie. KSL if you wish for massage, dinner, etc. but you will need to self return to SG after.
