🗓️ Day by day overview

Now let's dive into the 🗓️ Day by Day overview of our 🇵🇪 Peru Adventure 🏔️ overall!

Day 1 - 2: ✈️ fly 🇸🇬 singapore to 🇵🇪 PERU

We know that just looking at the flights is a pain 👀 so here are the suggested flights with Google Flights links for your easy reference!

✈️ Suggested Flight Route:

Day 1-2: 🇸🇬 SIN 10.20pm > 🇵🇪 LIM 3.40pm+1 by Air France, 1 Stop Paris

Latest price: S$2,962.5, as of Tue 3 Mar 2026

Day 2: arrive in 🇵🇪 Lima, Peru around 4 - 5pm

Make our way to our hotel (40min-1hr drive away) for a good night's rest. By around 8.30pm, we should arrive at our hotel for check in.

⏰ Singapore is 13 hours ahead of Lima.

So 8.30pm in Lima time will feel like 9.30am (Singapore time.)

🇵🇪 Lima is not just the capital of Peru, but also the culinary capital of South America, famous for dishes like:

  • Ceviche: a Peruvian, fresh raw fish/seafood, soaked in citrus juice/lime)

  • Lomo Saltado: a stir fried Peruvian x Chinese dish, with beef strips & vegetables

Day 3: Ballestas islands, ica vineyard, Huacachina Oasis & Desert

After a good night's rest, journey south of Lima and explore the 🌊 Ballestas Islands by boat, 🇵🇪 Peru's mini Galapagos: home to 🦭 Sea Lions & Humboldt Penguins. 🐧

Cruise past dramatic arches, caves & cliffs shaped by the wind & waves. Wildlife gathers here due to the Humboldt current, with cold waters bringing plankton and fish.

Next we'll visit a 🍇 Traditional Ica Vineyard, where we'll learn about the 🍷 Pisco (Grape Brandy) making process with a tasting session.

Ica is Peru's most famous grape-growing region. Pisco making began in Peru in the 16th Century, when the Spanish conquered Peru. 🇪🇸 Settlers brought European grapevines, from mainland Spain & the Canary Islands.

The region's warm, dry climate and abundant sunlight produces grapes with concentrated flavours, perfect for distillation into Pisco.

We end off our day in 🏝️ Huacachina Oasis 🏜️, exploring the surrounding desert with an exhilarating 🏎️ Sand Buggy Ride, where we'll also be able to 🏂 try Sand Boarding.

The contrast of lush greenery & the endless desert is a true spectacle, bringing us back to a time when Huacachina was an important stop along Peru's Coastal Desert Trade Route.

Ancient civilisations such as the Paracas & the Nazca used to travel across the harsh desert to trade cotton, food, pottery and textiles. Huacachina was a popular rest point, for water, rest & shelter.

Day 4: ✈️ fly Lima to Cusco 🇵🇪

Known as the historic heart of 🌎 South America, Cusco was once the capital of the Incan empire.✨ From Cusco, we travel north about 1.5hrs to the Sacred Valley, once the 🌾 agricultural and spiritual heartland of the Incan Empire.

Here we'll get to 🐴 Ride Horses through the Maras fields 🌾, with beautiful views of the 🏔️ Andean mountain range.

Thereafter we'll spend a lovely night ✨ in the mountains 🏔️, surrounded by Llamas & Alpacas. 🦙

Day 5: Maras salt mines, moray Terraces, ollantaytambo

Today we venture further into 🇵🇪 Peru's Sacred Valley 🏞️, to the Maras Salt Mines, Moray Terraces & the Ollantaytambo Inca Fortress.

Created by pre-Incan civilisations, the Maras Salt Mines consist of more than 3,000 individual salt terraces, carved into the cliffs of the Sacred Valley.

They are fed by a natural underground salt spring. The mineral rich water slowly flows into each shallow pool.

As the water evaporates, salt crystallises across the terraces, creating a stunning, snow like landscape amidst the dry Andean mountains.

The local famers carefully collect the salt by hand, using traditional techniques passed down through generations.

Continuing on to the Moray Terraces, scientists believe that the Incans built it as an agricultural experimentation centre.

The circular formation of the terraces allowed the varying levels to have different temperatures, allowing the Incans to test crops under varying temperatures.

This allowed the Incans to develop resilient varieties of maize, potatoes and other crops to thrive across different temperatures.

Heading on to the town of Ollantaytambo, explore one of the most impressive and well-preserved Incan towns in Peru. Unlike many archaeological sites, Ollantaytambo still follows its original Incan urban design, with narrow stone streets and ancient water drainage systems.

In the afternoon, we hop on board the Observatory Train for a 1hr 45min - 2hrs scenic ride through the mountains from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu, where we'll spend the night.

Enjoy immersive views journeying through the Sacred Valley, with large panoramic windows and glass ceilings.

Day 6: Enter machu picchu, the lost city

From Aguas Calientes, we'll take a 20-30min bus up to Machu Picchu.

Utilising the 2A general entrance ticket, explore the best viewpoints from the upper areas, including the classic, iconic Machu Picchu postcard view, down to the temples, houses and plazas of the Incan citadel.

It is a 1.5km route, suitable for average fitness, and generally takes 2.5hrs.

Built around the 1450s under the Incan emperor Pachacuti, historians believe that Machu Picchu was built as a Royal residence for the Emperor & the Royal family. It was a religious & ceremonial centre, with temples & sacred stones.

In the 1530s, the Inca civilization collapsed due to a combination of factors: the Civil War between the Incan emperor brothers Atahualpa & Huáscar, the devastating impact of diseases such as Smallpox, & the Spanish invasion, which included the capture & execution of Emperor Atahualpa.

As a result, remote sites such as Machu Picchu were abandoned, leaving it uninhabited & intact for centuries before it was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham, an American historian & explorer in 1911.

Explore the Agricultural zone, full of impressive terraces, a testament to the Incan's advanced knowledge of agriculture, enabling them to maximise the use of the land, regulate soil temperature, and control soil erosion.

Discover the Sacred Plaza / Plaza of the Temples: one of the most essential and sacred spaces of the Incan citadel.

It is made up of three main structures: the Main Temple, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the Priest's House.

Day 7: Palccoyo Mountain

As our journey veers toward the end, head to Palccoyo Mountain, the alternative to the popular Rainbow / Vincicuna Mountain, for a less crowded, equally spectacular, and more pastel-like sight of naturally striped mountains, formed by mineral deposits.

For reference, here are the differences in the distance, duration, and altitude of these 2 different treks.

Palccoyo: 1.5 - 2km hike one way, ~ 1 - 2hrs, 4,700m - 4,900m

Vinicunca: 5 - 6km hike one way, ~ 4 - 5hrs, 4,300m - 5,200m

After dinner, bid farewell to a stunning week exploring Peru: from Lima to Cusco & Machu Picchu. Depart from Cusco to Lima.
